About

O Lord, God of my deliverance, by day I cried out [to You], by night I [offer my prayer] before You.

Tehillim (Psalm) 88:2

I’m Mindy Rubenstein, a Jewish mom, writer and artist in Israel.

I made Aliyah with my family in September of 2022, which was the first time I had set foot in Eretz Yisrael

I share my religious and spiritual journey in a vulnerable way–including my connection with G-d, Torah and Jewish mysticism. I also share openly about emotional healing journey.

As a returnee to traditional Judaism since 2007, I have studied with rabbis and rebbetzins in the U.S. and Israel, including the Oorah TorahMates program and Chabad.

I also have utlized various modes of healing during my journey, including CBT, EMDR, IFS and 12-step trauma-healing work.

During my career, my articles and essays have been published in Jewish and secular publications, including Chabad.org, Aish.com, Baltimore Jewish Times, Atlanta Jewish Times, the Jerusalem Post and Times of Israel. I also was a correspondent for the Tampa Bay Times, where I received a national journalism award for religion writing in the secular media for my Faith in Motion series.

As founding editor of Women of Israel (Nishot Yisrael) Magazine, I love uniting Jewish women of all backgrounds and helping them share their stories through essays, stories, poetry and art.

I help women (and teens) write and edit the stories within them, then work with volunteers to coordinate production — feeling a deep sense of accomplishment seeing the art and writing, and women’s faces, together in one publication. Baruch Hashem, so far we have created 13 editions, plus the online version.

As Jewish women, expressing ourselves through creativity and connecting with each other is so important. I feel alive when I’m utilizing my creative skills, and conversely, when I’m not, it can be painful.

I make art, mostly abstract mixed media, for trauma healing. I have recently written a book about my journey, including a collection of my writing over the years. It’s in the editing process now.

I earned a bachelor’s degree in business and writing from the University of Florida, a master’s degree in communications from the University of South Florida, “Yeud” coaching certifcation, and certification in Energy Pshychology and Holistic Healing.

Recently I began working with the First Aliyah Museum here in Zichron Yaakov, Israel, where I research and write about pioneering, creative Jewish women who arrived the Holy Land during late 19th century.

I’d love to hear from you.

Stay strong just a bit longer. I’m here with you, always.

I’m sitting in a cafe here in Israel, drinking an afuk. Ancient trees surround me. A cat wanders through the courtyard. She seems like a regular. A man and woman have a conversation in English at the table near me. It sounds like an interview. She asks him if he’s always wanted to be a…

Israel’s First-Aliyah Women: A Jewish Journey of Faith and Resilience

This week I began the journey of researching and writing about the Jewish women of Israel’s First Aliyah, and I feel a stirring within me—a calling from my predecessorss—as I navigate my own struggles here as a Jewish woman after making Aliyah a-year-and-a-half ago. The “First Aliyah” includes the approximately 30,000 Jewish people who returned…

Purim Salvation

As a Jewish woman in Israel, especially now during the time of Purim, I work to strengthen my faith—remembering that G-d lovingly orchestrates all aspect of our lives. In a world that often feels random and chaotic, I anchor myself in the trust that Hashem is lovingly guiding every single moment of my existence. Though…
